How long does the course take? +
About 8 hours of self-paced online work (PHTA CPO Fusion course), plus one 8-hour in-person or Zoom test day. Total 16 hours, matches the PHTA classroom version without losing two consecutive workdays.
What does the exam look like? +
50 multiple-choice questions, 3-hour limit, 37 correct answers to pass. Proctored live by Samuel on the in-person or Zoom test day.
What happens if I don’t pass the first time? +
You get up to two retakes within six months of your original exam date (PHTA rule effective September 2025). Samuel will proctor your retake at no additional charge, just book any future Proctor Day. The $75 PHTA retake fee applies, paid directly to PHTA.
How long is my certification valid? +
Five years from the date you pass the exam. You will receive reminders well before renewal, and discounted recertification is available.
Do you travel outside Las Vegas for on-site classes? +
Yes, we offer on-site training nationally and to English-speaking facilities internationally. Minimum 20 students required for out-of-state travel; minimum 6 students for Las Vegas on-site classes. Please email Samuel directly at sam@cpopro.com before purchasing an out-of-state package so we can confirm the date and logistics.
Can I take just the exam if I’ve already done the online course? +
Yes, email sam@cpopro.com with your PHTA course completion details and we will get you onto an upcoming proctored test day.
Is this the official PHTA certification? +
Yes. Samuel is a PHTA Certified CPO Instructor, and the credential you receive is the official PHTA Certified Pool & Spa Operator® certification recognised by health departments and commercial facilities industry-wide.
What is the cancellation policy? +
Tuition is non-refundable once paid, the moment you enrol, we purchase your PHTA course code and handbook, which cannot be recovered. That said, we work with you: Reschedule free with 7+ days notice (or $50 fee inside 7 days); Transfer your seat to another student from the same organisation with 48+ hours notice at no cost; Retakes up to 2 within 6 months included; If we cancel you receive a full refund or priority rescheduling.
